PSE&G Commercial HVAC Rebates in New Jersey

PSE&G is the largest utility in New Jersey and serves the densest part of the state's commercial and multifamily stock. If your building sits in the north or center, this is most likely the program your project runs through.

What kind of projects does PSE&G support?

Commercial and multifamily energy-efficiency retrofits — replacing existing, inefficient equipment with high-efficiency equipment. The incentive is calculated from the projected energy saving.

That framing matters more than the equipment list. These are not equipment discounts. They are payments for the saving your building will produce, which is why the survey and the energy model come before any pricing conversation.

It also means the worse your current equipment is, the better your project performs. An oversized 1980s atmospheric boiler is a stronger candidate than a fifteen-year-old unit that was decent when installed.

Does the building have to be old?

It has to be an existing building with equipment worth replacing. New construction does not qualify — these programs exist to fix what is already in the ground.

Who applies?

We do, on your behalf. The application, the energy modeling and the utility coordination are our scope, not yours.

The one thing we need from you early is the utility account information, because the incentive follows the account holder. In a leased building that is not always the party who initiated the conversation, and it is worth settling before the project is scoped.

Common questions

Is my building in PSE&G territory?

Check the top of your electric bill rather than assuming from your town — territory boundaries do not follow municipal lines.

Can PSE&G gas and electric incentives stack?

PSE&G supplies both gas and electric across much of its territory, and projects touching both can qualify on both sides. That is assessed per project.

How long does approval take?

It varies by program year and project size. We give you a realistic timeline once the survey is complete rather than a generic one up front.
